The Crush: Game-Day Energy

Part of what made an Edmonton Rush game feel like an event was the entertainment around the box-lacrosse action. The Crush — the club's game-day dance and hype squad — were central to that atmosphere for years. This page remembers the squad as a whole and its role in the fan experience; out of respect for privacy, it does not profile individual members.

Part of the Show

Box lacrosse is fast, loud and made for arena entertainment, and the Crush leaned into it. Between whistles and during breaks in play, the squad kept the energy high, engaged the crowd, and added to the polished game-night production that the Rush built at Rexall Place. In a sport built for tight, enclosed arenas, that constant energy helped turn a lacrosse game into a full night out.

A Community Presence

Like the players and mascots, the Crush also represented the franchise beyond the arena, appearing at community events and helping connect the team to its fans. They were part of the broader community effort that made the Rush a family-friendly night out, and a visible ambassador for the club around the Edmonton area.

Auditions and Tradition

Game-day squads are built fresh each year, and joining one is a real commitment of time, rehearsal and performance. Season after season the Crush carried that tradition, maintaining a consistent presence on the floor even as the roster of performers changed. It was one of the many small routines that gave the franchise its texture.

A Squad, Remembered Collectively

Game-day squads like the Crush are often overlooked in team histories, but they were a real part of the Rush experience — a visible, energetic thread running through the club's decade in Edmonton. We remember them collectively, as an ensemble that helped turn lacrosse games into a genuine entertainment event.
